November OSS Meeting

This last meeting of the year will begin at 6:15 pm. Our Web Secretary Alison will be presenting over Incidental Findings. She has previously delivered this presentation to her fellow vascular monographers who are not versed in general ultrasound. This presentation will fill in gaps for sonographers whose general ultrasound knowledge might be lacking or need a tune up. This presentation will cover how to discern and document incidental findings of the thyroid, lymph nodes, tendons, muscles, masses, kidneys, abscess/edema/cellulitis/ascites, and acute arterial occlusion.

Alison Berger has a Bachelors of Nutritional Science from OSU, and then she went on to Moore-Norman Technology to pursue Diagnostic Ultrasound. She has been practicing for over 12 years in General, Vascular, Pediatrics, and OB/Gyn first at Jane Phillips then OU Medicine and OU Children’s

Objectives
Upon completion of this session, participants will improve their competence and performance by being able to:

– Review importance and affect in patient care in documenting incidental findings.
– Contrast normal and abnormal anatomy, particularly of the thyroid, lymph node, tendon, muscle, kidney, mass, acute arterial, etc)
– Explain how to document and measure (if needed) incidental findings
– Describe location of incidental findings constructively.
